Community Proud

What we’re looking forward to in post-pandemic life

by Kaitlyn MacLean

Over the past year and a half, we have all had to adjust to restrictions and take a break from some of our favourite activities and events, knowing eventually we will be able to exchange social distancing for sharing smiles and gathering once again.

At Atlantic Lottery, we have done our best to make the most of it; taking cancelled events and gatherings and turning them into new and resourceful opportunities like the Community Proud Contest.

With high vaccination rates, low case numbers and provinces opening to one another, we can’t stop thinking about everything we will soon be able to do.

Here’s what we’re looking forward to most:

1. Festivals and events

One of Atlantic Lottery’s favourite ways to give back is by sponsoring festivals and events of all types and sizes, all across Atlantic Canada. This sponsorship program supports over 100 events in the Atlantic provinces, bringing countless Atlantic Canadians together each year.

Atlantic Lottery not only supports these events financially but sends employees and representatives who play an active role in the events themselves.

Many festivals and events are back on this year and we are thrilled to get to connect with Atlantic Canadians in our local communities once again.

2. In-person winner’s celebrations

For some time now, video calls have been the new norm for office meetings, gathering with friends, catching up with family and even hosting events. Atlantic Lottery has hopped on this trend as well, using virtual win celebrations to connect with our big winners and celebrate safely.

Our virtual celebrations have been a hit during these times, but we can’t wait to safely celebrate in-person with our winners again in the future. Bring on the confetti, big cheques, and treats – hold the webcam.

3. Working together in the office

Working from home has its perks, of course, but we miss working together in person, collaborating and sharing a laugh. We’re looking forward to opening our offices at full capacity, trading in our leisure wear for real pants, and returning to the office with the co-workers we have missed so much.

4. Travelling across Atlantic Canada

Atlantic Canada is a big and beautiful place. We have projects to participate in, events to attend, and winners to celebrate in every nook and cranny of our region. We’re looking forward to packing our bags (confetti cannons included) and hitting the road once again.

5. Volunteering in our communities

While Atlantic Lottery employees have done their best during this time to provide support where they can, pandemic restrictions limited opportunities for in-person volunteering efforts. Atlantic Lottery employees are passionate about giving back and are eager to get back out into our local communities to show their support.

6. All of you!

Atlantic Lottery would not exist if not for the incredible people of Atlantic Canada. We are simply thrilled that we can start safely connecting in person again and cannot wait to see you all soon!
