RG Check? Check! Another responsible gambling recognition for AL
Responsible gambling (RG) is one of Atlantic Lottery’s core values. It is woven into the fabric of every game, program, practice and advertisement we offer to players.
We have previously talked about the Level 4 Recertification AL achieved under the World Lottery Association’s Responsible Gaming Framework in recognition of these efforts. Well, we’re back again to share the news of another world-class accreditation AL has achieved in recognition of our commitment to RG.
Our online alc.ca platform and Red Shores Racetrack and Casino in Charlottetown have both been awarded the RG Check Accreditation, the most comprehensive responsible gambling accreditation program in the world, offered by the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC).
Ashley McGuigan, Atlantic Lottery’s corporate social responsibility business partner, worked with a broad team of employees from across the corporation throughout the completion of the accreditation process.
“Earning this accreditation shows that we offer some of the best healthy play tools and resources in the world,” McGuigan said. “This is a real point of pride for us.”
RGC is an independent non-profit organization and world leader in the prevention of problem gambling for more than 35 years. The RG Check Accreditation is a rigorous and highly respected accreditation program that is changing the definition of what responsible gambling can achieve.
Before awarding RG Check accreditation, RGC uses its Standards for iGaming, comprised of nine comprehensive standards and 48 criteria, to help measure the scope and effectiveness of RG programs on online gambling sites, such as alc.ca. For land-based venues, such as Red Shores Racetrack and Casino, the RG standards are comprised of eight comprehensive standards and 47 criteria.
Some examples of the standards focused on are marketing communications, employee training, and informed decision making and contain criteria such as not marketing to at-risk players or minors, employees understanding key problem gambling and RG concepts, and responses to player enquiries.
It takes many people, hours and resources to secure an accreditation such as this, not only during the review process, but by everyone across the business each and every day, upholding and embracing these rigorous RG efforts.
“Atlantic Lottery is and will always be highly committed to continuously improving and evolving our program and practices,” said Patrick Daigle, Atlantic Lottery President and CEO. “It took a great deal of hard work and dedication to get our program where it is today, and we have no intention of slowing down any time soon.”
The RG Check Accreditation is subject to a renewal process every three years. As part of the accreditation process, feedback is given on how the organization can further improve their RG efforts and programs.
“We were so pleased to receive the valuable feedback the RGC had to offer us on ways to even further improve our efforts in responsible gambling,” McGuigan said. “We are thoroughly reviewing all the feedback provided and are committed to continuously evolving our program and practices.”
