Giving players more of what they love about 2Chance

The creation of the 2020 edition of Atlantic Lottery’s 2Chance program involved many individual changes and improvements, but the overall goal was always clear: make it as entertaining and easy to use as possible for the player.

The enhancements were the result of a five-week design sprint with the Atlantic Lottery Innovation team. This work focused on input from interviews with 25 2Chance players, who identified specific areas that could be improved.

This player-centric approach should make the 2020 program, which launched April 1, even more appealing to the 2Chance faithful, said Katelyn Hebert, who runs the popular offering that will give away $40,000 in prizes every month this year.

“That feedback was key to helping us understand how we could make 2Chance even better for the players,” Hebert said. “We used that information to improve their digital experience and make it easier and more convenient than ever assign their 2Chance entries.”

2Chance gives Atlantic Lottery players a second chance to turn their winning and non-winning purchases into cash and prizes by entering eligible tickets into monthly draws at no additional cost. Players can assign their entries to specific 2Chance prizes so they have a greater chance to claim the ones they’re most interested in winning – anything from cash or Netflix gift cards all the way up to a new vehicle.

Putting Players First

Players this year will notice technological enhancements that will simplify that process. A new 2Chance website was designed to be more mobile-friendly. Tickets purchased on alc.ca are automatically entered in your 2Chance account, but now players can use the ticket scanner on the Atlantic Lottery mobile app and the new ticket scanner on 2Chance.ca to easily add their tickets purchased at retail.

The latest edition also offers several key improvements designed to make it the most attractive, entertaining and user-friendly for 2Chance players in its 11-year history, Hebert said.

“We’ve simplified the overall program. Players will earn 2Chance entries and can assign them to various prizes every month for more chances to win,” she said. “By having a new draw period every month, it will be easier for players to know when a contest is ending.”

This year, players can also move around their entries to different prizes even after they have assigned them, in case they accidentally put them towards the wrong prize or once they see where others are placing theirs. An auto-assign feature has also been added so players can set their entries for that month to a specific prize, which came in response to player feedback that some wanted their entries to only go towards one prize for every draw.

Other additions include simplified earn rates to help players know how many entries their tickets are worth. All products except Instant Win games on alc.ca will earn one entry for every $1 and Instant Win games will earn one entry for every $3. A new tracker for the player under their 2Chance History will help to easily track this and an unassigned entries count in emails will give players updates on how many entries they have to assign to prizes.

“Our players were already passionate about 2Chance,” Hebert said. “They’ve told us they love the way it gives them another way to win with Atlantic Lottery. But we also knew there was still room for improvement and the opportunity to provide them with an even better experience.”
