Calling Atlantic Canadian artists: your art could be displayed outside Atlantic Lottery’s head office
We’re proud to call Atlantic Canada our home. As a purpose-driven organization, we’re also committed to making sure this place we love – from bustling downtowns to rugged shorelines – can be shared and enjoyed by everyone. One way we want to help do this is by turning Atlantic Lottery’s head office into a work of art dedicated to Atlantic Canada.
Creating a Community Canvas
This April, Atlantic Lottery is inviting local artists, artist groups and art collectives based in Atlantic Canada to submit an eye-catching design that captures what they love most about our region. Submissions should reflect the theme of community pride and the unique elements that showcase the Atlantic Canada of today.
“This is an opportunity for us to celebrate local artistic talent, as well as this place we all call home,” said Warren Cable, Chief Marketing Officer for Atlantic Lottery. “We look forward to seeing the many ways artists choose to reflect and represent life in Atlantic Canada.”
All submissions will be evaluated by an internal panel using criteria including connection to the contest theme, overall quality of the work, alignment with Atlantic Lottery’s values and more. The artist with the winning design will be awarded a $5,000 artist’s fee and their artwork will wrap the windows of Atlantic Lottery’s head office – a prominent location in the heart of downtown Moncton (922 Main St.).
Submissions will be open to all residents of Atlantic Canada who are 19 years or older as of April 1, 2024. There is no cost to submit. We encourage applicants to review the specifications document and design limitations available on alc.ca/communitycanvas, as this may impact their submission. Artists will be asked to submit a mock-up of their proposed art design, a short biography outlining their professional experience and an artist statement explaining how their design showcases Atlantic Canada or connects to the theme of community pride.
Once a winner is chosen and Atlantic Lottery has the artwork installed, an official announcement and unveiling will follow.
Celebrating our region’s diversity
Atlantic Lottery is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that reflects the diversity of our communities in which we live and serve. The parameters of this initiative create an environment that encourages applicants to consider and emphasize diversity, equity and inclusion in their designs. We encourage submissions that acknowledge and celebrate the rich and varied landscape of Atlantic Canada.
If applicants require support for the design process, such as alternate formatting, they can reach out via email and our team will work with them to meet their needs. We are committed to creating a space in which artists feel valued, respected and supported.
